It is the desire of every effective parent to raise a positive and godly child, but the depth of negativity at this time makes it seem almost impossible to do so.
Just a few generations ago, getting in trouble meant being disrespectful to elders, laziness, and talking too much, but today the stakes are much higher. Children are now being exposed to various social vices and recreational crimes by society, social media, the environment, schools, and sometimes by their parents and guardians.
Charity, they say, begins at home
Parents are responsible for training their children effectively; however, being an effective parent does not translate to always being a “perfect” parent.
As a parent, you must hold yourself to a high standard knowing that you have children looking up to you. The children of this generation learn faster by what they see and not only by what they hear.
Understanding that children take after their parents show that parenting is a full-time job that must be taken more seriously as the effects of bad parenting are damaging to the child, society, and the nation at large.
Effective parenting begins with having a positive mindset, a good value system, and unquestionable character. It does not begin when a child is born or when a child is placed in your care.
The saying goes that one cannot be an immoral parent and expect an upright child. For you cannot give what you do not have. To raise positive children today, you must be an intentional parent.
Children are a gift from God, they are not to be treated with cruelty or abused, but they are to be nurtured and protected so that they can reach their full potential amidst the challenges in the world today.
Positive parenting is a prerequisite for positive and stable children. As we celebrate children today, we want to remind parents to do all they can to raise positive children for us to have a better world.
