The journey of life comes with several challenges, however, this pandemic no doubt has been the greatest I have ever faced. To see the world come to a complete stop, to see corporations and world powers come to a halt keeps me wondering.
As a leader, I believe that leadership matters now more than ever and our response to the issues we face in this season will greatly impact on our leadership and the people we lead.
One thing is certain, we are all in this together, and our uniqueness proves that we manage crises differently. I had to sit back to reflect, learn, relearn and unlearn in this season.
This is why I am excited to share with you some of the lessons I have learned so far, I trust that they will be helpful to you as we all seek to navigate effectively in this season.
1. I Gained Perspective- I understand now more than ever that crises are inevitable as they are part of our lives and they can come at any time but our response to the crisis is what matters most. Crises don’t last forever, it may be strong at the beginning and look like it is unbearable but it will surely come to an end. God never promised us a smooth ride, but He assured us of a safe landing.
2. Build Healthy Relationships- As leaders, we must build healthy relationships with our family, colleagues, community, and the people we lead. People matter and how we treat them is extremely crucial to our leadership.
3. Effective and Continuous Communication- Initiating and creating the environment for sincere and continuous communication will go a long way in helping our teams thrive in times of crisis.
4. Better Financial Management- Good budgeting and planning is critical for organisations to be sustainable and to survive. Organisations should work at setting out a percentage of their budget to help during times of crisis.
5. Trust God Always.- No matter what we go through God remains faithful and trustworthy. He is able always to protect and deliver us from troubles, our trust in God must be resolute.
